Microsoft 4K camera to be added to Win10 PCs

Microsoft 4k camera is a big plan for facial recognition on its PCs including Xbox One.

Microsfoft which is said to be a Redmond-based company wants to equip its Windows Hello facial recognition to all Windows 10 running PCs. According to a report by Paul Thurrott, the popular Windows Watcher, Microsoft 4k camera could be released next year for Windows 10 PCs and XBox One.

The external cameras would help the company in bringing its facial recognition technology to the PCs that do not come with an inbuilt webcam. The report also says that the webcams could be a part of Microsoft’s Surface brand. With external cameras for Xbox One, Microsoft could land Kinect-like features on Xbox One.

The report makes sense as Panos Panay, the head of Microsoft Surface brand, said in October during an interview that Microsoft could release a USB-C webcam soon.

Panay said, “Look at the camera on Surface Hub 2, note it’s a USB-C-based camera, and the idea that we can bring a high fidelity camera to an experience, you can probably guess that’s going to happen.”

The release of external webcams could be a part of Microsoft’s efforts to make a password-less sign-in procedure using Windows Hello. In its Windows 10 October update, the Windows maker enabled WebAuthn-based authentication, which allows users to sign in to websites like Bing, Skype, and Office 365 with security keys and Windows Hello.
