How Google Digital Skills Bauchi celebrated Nigeria Independence day at UpliftHub
GOOGLE Digital Skills for Africa (GDSA) Program is an open training designed by Google to help people learn the digital skills one need to succeed in life.
The GDSA program is aimed at making everyone benefit from the internet, regardless of their skill level, goals or background. As a GDSA Partner, Mind the_Gap has trained over 50,000 youths and 10,000 SMEs. The Trainers set up training and collaborate with individuals and corporate bodies across Africa teaching them the nitty gritty of leveraging the online opportunity for business and career.
Mind the Gap Nigeria with their Team in Bauchi conducted the training basically in all the tertiary Institutions within the State (Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State University, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and others), Corps Members at NYSC Camps (Wailo Camp Bauchi), and also at community level using UpliftHub as a Meetup center.
The Mindthe_Gap Bauchi Team is composed of energetic and Enthusiast youths who are filled with the passion for helping grow businesses within the state using Google Digital Skills. The Team Members are Victor Abel (Lead NorthEastern Nigeria), Joshua Oyeshola Oluwafemi, Yohanna Ayuba, Susan Moses.
This Great community had an event yesterday at Uplift Nigeria’s Hub which is a place created to empower youths through technological ideas and grow them to become startups. UpliftHub is not a boring place because last weekend was very tight for the Hub for several events during the weekend including the Independence day.
GDSA Bauchi commemorate the celebration of the Independence day (Nigeria@58). The Event was tagged #DigitalNigeria. The event has about 60 people in attendance, the atmosphere was colorful as every participant had his/her faces painted Green and white.
After the National Anthem, the first speaker Fidelis Okafor of Developers Circles: Bauchi from Facebook was a Guest speaker, he talked about Google for SME, how to leverage Google products in growing businesses. The Second Guest speaker Paul Joe, Lead: Developer Student Club (ATBU) emphasised on How to Use Google Trends to Gain a Competitive Edge. Victor Abel later discussed how digital skills could help businesses. Yohanna Ayuba did a Hands-on session on Google Analytics, Joshua Oyeshola Later rounded up the event with a hands-on Session on how to get started on the Google Digital Skills certification page, it was very great and honest to see people craving to learn and grow in their own community.
